50th Reunion Commentary: Since entering Sunnydale Elementary, I have been in school each subsequent year as student or teacher/researcher.  Most of that time has been busily spent here at the UW, but with occasional appointments at Princeton, Harvard and Cambridge.  One of the rewards of this career has been travel to many fascinating places like Yerevan and Samarkand, but my heart dwells in Italy.  Most will agree, however, that the best part of life lies with family and friends.  My wondrous wife Barbara and I share six marvelous children and 13 spectacular grandchildren.  All are the joy of our lives.
